What is a bar chart?
A bar chart is a chart or graph that presents categorical data with rectangular bars with heights proportional to the values that they represent.
When are bar charts used in Checkbox?
Bar charts are often used to create a visual representation of certain user inputs (i.e. exposed variables) for reporting or data analytics. For example, a bar chart may be used to visually show the comparison of the number of Assessments that are in-progress or completed.
Features of a bar charts
- Stacked bar charts: This type of bar chart is used to show how a larger category is divided into smaller categories and what the relationship of each part has on the total amount
- Sorting: Sort the data in either none (default), ascending or descending order
Note: The sorting will only apply to the primary dimension - List variables: List variables can be added to pre-populate the bar chart similarly to a drop-down or radio type variable
Limitations
- Bar charts can only accept up to 2 dimensions. The primary dimension (i.e. the first dimension or x-axis) will be shown as additional columns while the secondary dimension (i.e the second dimension or y-axis) will be additional bars with different colours
Note: When items in the colour key are clicked, they will be greyed out and the data points connected with them will be removed from the Bar Chart.
