We’ve been busy this month making complex approvals smoother, giving AIA superpowers with file intake, and tightening up performance in Matter Management. Here’s what’s new:
Workflow
Features
Workflow block — email approvals made easier
Previously, approvals via the email inbox required extra manual steps and lacked flexibility, making complex multi-step approvals difficult to manage. Now, the “Send for Approval” workflow block has been upgraded to give you:
- Post-approval routing control — decide exactly where the workflow goes after approval or rejection.
- Custom submission & approval pages — tailor content and optionally hide comments and transcripts.
- Configurable action buttons (in emails and forms) — set labels, visibility, and colors, and route each button to different workflow branches.
- Attach reports to approval emails — send approvers the context they need, right in their inbox.
These changes give you far more flexibility to deliver a clean, intuitive “approve from email” experience.
Enhancements
- SET_VAR — Create User variables from email, text variable, current owner, or initial owner
- Granular Project Teams role control — Member permissions can now be configured individually for create, edit, view, reassign and delete actions.
- Form JS → Lookup field support — JavaScript event listeners can now detect Lookup field changes for richer UX customizations.
AI Agent (AIA)
Features
🚀 Document & file intake (Chatbot, Slack, Email)
End users can now upload files alongside messages. AIA reads the message and the files to deliver richer responses and actions.
- When AIA creates a matter: the uploaded files are automatically tracked on the matter.
- Create Matter actions: new toggle to ask requestors for supporting documents during creation.
- Supported formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WEBP
- PDFs with form layers (W-9, TFN, etc.) are supported. (Fun fact: ChatGPT doesn’t support this but we do!)
- Limits: up to 3 attachments, total 32 MB.
-
Integrations: Slack & Email
- Email note: only regular attachments are supported. Embedded content (base64/content-ID) isn’t supported.
Enhancements
- PDFs with form layers (fillable PDFs) are now supported in the Document Review block’s key term extraction.
- Email forwarding setups now work end-to-end with AIA email intake (e.g., Requestor → DL/shared inbox with forwarding → Intake address).
- Cleaner threads — Outlook signatures and reply headers are stripped from AIA Chat and AIA Dashboard views.
Matter Management
Features
Ironclad Integration (new!)
Bring Ironclad workflows into Checkbox as Matters— including status, fields, and comments.
- Why it matters: unify contracting (Ironclad) and non-contracting (Checkbox) work in one place for reporting and load-balancing.
-
Use cases:
- Report on contracting vs. non-contracting volume in one view.
- Track workload allocation across your team.
- Map and display custom Ironclad fields inside Checkbox.
- Source of truth: Ironclad remains the system of record. Update Ironclad for workflow changes.

Enhancements
- Bulk delete — select multiple rows (including Shift+click) to delete in Boards.
- Single/Multi-Select fields — merge options directly in Matter Fields Config (useful where Ironclad/Checkbox labels differ).
